#wcw is back and we’re trying something new: we’re inviting the community (that’s YOU!) to nominate friends, peers, and hey, even yourself (why not?). This week, we’ve got Catherine Madden nominated by Julianne Kanzaki.

Julianne writes: “The way she uses art and design for data illustration is by far the most creative and intuitive I've ever seen. I'm confident that her skills can inspire other women to carve their own path using design. Her ideas and contribution have been featured in Skillshare classes and also at Apple.”

And we’ll add: Catherine’s one of those people you meet and feel immediately that you’ve just known forever. We love how enthusiastically she makes topics that can be hard to understand accessible and fun. And she gave one of our favorite Lightning Talks of all time on falling out of (and back in) love with data (which she also wrote about here).

Meet Catherine!

What I’m working on… I've got a handful of data storytelling projects for clients in the social justice and environmental space that will keep me busy through the end of the year, plus my next Skillshare class. In the class I'm going to share a few of my favorite visual thinking techniques that help you achieve clarity in conversation. I also have a hundred personal side projects that are all 50% complete – I'm starting to realize I am much better in the idea phase than I am in the execution...luckily most of clients hire me for my expertise in ideation and prototyping!

My goals for this year are… I am on a self-discovery journey this year and have been planting seeds around what my values are and how to recognize when I am in or out of alignment with them. I'm starting to see the seeds sprout up and bear fruit, living my values, and recognizing when they are compromised by me or my clients. My goal is to feel 100% in alignment with my values in my personal and client relationships. This is probably more of a lifelong goal than an annual one :)

How you can help me… I would love to find more collaborators. In particularly, I'd love to have a network of designers, developers, and storytellers of all varieties (video and audio would be a nice complement to my work) to talk shop and bring into support my client projects. Hit me up if that sounds fun to you!

Thanks to Catherine and Julianne for sharing! Want to nominate a #wcw? Here’s the place to do it.

And if you want to try out Catherine’s class on Skillshare, you can use this link for two free months (not sponsored, we’re paying members!).
