#wcw Hillary Jones
This week’s #wcw Hillary Jones was nominated by her husband Darryl. I mean, how sweet is that? Here’s what he had to say:
My wife Hillary is one of the most talented and hard-working people I know. We do a lot of creative projects together and recently we worked on our first narrative short film. I wrote and directed it and Hillary was the Production Designer and Visual Designer for the film. She did an amazing job!
What I'm working on…Right now, I'm working on pre-production design for a music video for a Portland-based, all-lady folk band, which means I am dreaming up stories that visually elevate the song lyrics. On this video project I have creative autonomy and get to spend this phase designing vignettes (small scenes and sets), building and procuring props, refining wardrobe/hair/makeup direction for on-camera talent, and storyboarding with the director. I'm also in the midst of designing print and digital media to promote my husband's short film All of This!!!, in addition to a few visual design projects for Bay Area clients.
My goals this year are…This year has been a pivotal time in my creative career. I realized I don't always want to be glued to my computer. In my work, I want to use my hands and interact with people more. I would also love to collaborate with more women! Lately, I've been lucky to work on projects as an art director or production designer. Moving forward, my goals are to continue to evolve my skillset and experience in these areas and build a career as an established production designer.
Here's how you can help me…If you have a project that needs art direction or production design, I'd love to work with you! Examples of these types of projects are photo shoots, branded videos, music videos, films, environments, and exhibitions. And at this moment, you can also pledge to the crowdfunding campaign for the short film All of This!!! on which I was also the production designer (hint: we faked an earthquake).
Thanks Darryl and Hillary! Want to see All of This!!!? You’re in luck – there’s a screening tonight. Check out the details here.
Do you know an awesome woman? (Of course you do). Nominate her here. (We’d love to see more men nominating the women in their lives!).
